If you decide to fly to Malaga then make sure you schedule in a stop at Nerja, which is roughly half way. We always stop at the services that has an outside area overlooking the town. Car hire is relatively cheap and you can pick up a hire car for as little as £10 per day outside of the summer months. Expect to pay around £20 per day in the summer months and we would recommend using Gold Car. Gold Car are situated inside both Almeria and Malaga airports so there is no added complexity of getting a bus to an offsite rental location, this
also makes returning the vehicle a lot easier. To book your flight use an app like Skyscanner, Skyscanner will search all available flights with various carriers such as Ryanair, Jet2 and EasyJet.
